Can Air-Row Solve Problems in my Building?

Yes. Air-Row Fans has designed products to meet particularly challenging heating and cooling issues inherent with large, high-ceilinged buildings. Air-Row Fans are not paddle fans, but rather destratification fans that push air down in long columns to rotate the hot air at the ceiling with the cooler air down low. Beyond this, Air-Rowu2122 fan products address many specific challenges

  • Entrances and Vestibules — Provide directional air to provide additional heat or cooling where air is lost with the constant opening and closing of doors.
  • Floors — Can help keep floors warm and dry, and prevent safety hazards.
  • Freezer Doors and Cases — Can minimize sweating that prevents customers from seeing inside.
  • Hot and Cold Spots — Can augment starving long runs in the ductwork to bring air where necessary above freezer cases, open doors, etc.)

What air flow volume can I expect?

Air-Row fans set the industry standard for blowing the greatest amount of air at the most efficient cost. The following readings were taken using a hand-held Supco Digital Air-Flow/Volume Meter (DAVM). In each case, the integrity of the air column was maintained, and the air column was never wider than three (3) feet at any elevation.

What kind of savings will I experience with Air-Row?

In a typical commercial/industrial building with a 20-foot ceiling, the temperature differential from floor to ceilings can be in excess of 15 degrees. The addition of Air-Row fans can decrease that differential to 2-3 degrees. In addition, the fans will decrease the HVAC run-time and cut up to 30% in energy costs.

What is the size and weight of the Air-Row Fan and will it fit my space?

See the charts above. Air-Row has designed its fan products to fit into tight spaces among ceiling joists, beams, and duct runs, preventing any size or weight restrictions.

How much power will the fan use?

Air-Row fan products set the industry standard for producing the most air for the least power at the greatest cost savings. The Air-Row fan uses the equivalent power of a 40 watt light bulb, and 120 volts apply for these amperages. Air-Row fans use an EC motor, which uses significantly less wattage than the shaded pole motor used by many manufacturers.

Where should I place the fans for best results?

Fans need to be placed strategically to achieve the best results. Air-Row provides placement consultation to help you meet the specific challenges of your building. For best air mixing, there should be no obstruction from floor to ceiling.

Do blades nave to be exposed?

No. Air-Row Fans may be created without any exposed fan blades.

Is the fan installation difficult?

Fan installation is simple, and each product comes with its own set of instructions. The Air-Row Fan Company has designed its fans to be the primary destratification device in large buildings. The key to success is proper placement, therefore Air-Row offers consultation specific to your building. With the Air-Row Fans in place, the main HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) supply air fans will only run when they are required for fresh air or thermal change.

What can you tell me about the fan blades?

Air-Row products use a better fan blade for greater heat resistance. Our fan blade is impervious to airborne chemicals and moves 10-20% more air.

How are destratification fans different than regular ceiling fans?

Air-Row destratification fans are not like traditional ceiling paddle fans. Our fans do more than just circulate air, as paddle fans do. Our fans address destratification, a naturally occurring pattern of physics that happens as heat rises and HVAC systems create more air.

What is destratification?

Trapped air is a challenge in every building. It is the result of a naturally occurring pattern of physics called air stratification and is beyond the scope of HVAC systems.

Air becomes stratified as heat rises naturally, leaving the coolest air to remain at the floor. Since heat rises at .7ou00a0for every foot of vertical height, a building with 20u2019 ceilings will always be approximately 15ou00a0warmer at the ceiling than the floor.

Air-Row Fans u201cdestratifyu201d buildings by gathering this air trapped at the ceiling and bringing in to the floor. In perfecting this process of destratification, we normalize the temperature from floor to ceiling and bring u201ctargetedu201d air to where it is needed down below.
